MARCOS "Mac" HERMOSO

Born on September 26, 1955 to Atty. Justino P. Hermoso and Emilia Sta. Cruz. Mac was the eldest of nine children. Being the first grandchild of Marcos Llenado Hermoso and Paciena Pilares, he was brought up by his paternal grandmother at their ancestral home in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Upon reaching school age, he move to his Aunt’s house in New Manila, Quezon City as this was closer to their school of choice, La Salle Greenhills. Mac was a conscientious student during his school days as his family impressed upon him the notion that a good education is the key to success in life. Though he lived in Manila, he would go back to his hometown during weekends and holidays to be with his brothers and cousins. They were exposed to the family business.
He continued his education at the Dela Salle University majoring in Accounting, after which he took the CPA Board Examination and passed. This landed him a job at the auditing firm of Sycip, Gorres and Velayo and Co. where he joined the bank audit group. After his stint with SGV, he decided to upgrade his business education by entering the Asian Institute of Management, and after getting his Masters degree in Business Management, he decided to join the family business.He became Chairman and President of Liberty Savings Bank, Inc., Treasurer of Meycauayan College and directorships in the family’s real estate business. Being a senior Officer of the family businesses, he was frequently invited to join various trade and business organizations, such as FINEX, CREBA, the federation of Savings and Loan Associations and the Chamber of Thrift Banks.
In 1992, he was invited to the Rotary Club of San Juan North by an SVG Partner and a family friend, Rtn. Roman Reyes. During his first year as a Rotarian, he was immediately given the “BABY ROTARIAN of the year Award” On his second year he was elected the Club Treasurer and was given the MOST Outstanding Rotarian of the year Award.” In the succeeding years, he took the position of Secretary, President-elect, and in 1996 eventually became the Club President because of the high regard bestowed on him by his peers.
Even as a new Rotarian, he was immediately involved with the District. He was the Housing Chairman for the District Assembly 1993. He became the District Treasurer of PDG Fil Alano in RY 1995-1996, even before he became a Club President.
After his term of office as Club President, he was reeled into more active roles in the District by some of the District Governors. He was the Chair for Literacy in RY 1998-1999 under PDG Tony Co. he became the Chairman for Attendance of DISCON 2000 with PDG Pepe Peralta.
His first taste of a vital role in District 3800 came during the term of PDG Teddy Zamora wherein he was asked to be the assistant Governor of the San Juan Zone in RY 2000-2001. His labor during that year bore fruit as he was assigned more relevant district positions in the years followed. As Deputy District Secretary of PDG Efren de Guzman in RY 2000-2003, and as District Secretary of PDG Fabie Enriquez.
Throughout his years of serving the District he has received various plaques of recognition and Distinguished Service Awards from all the District Govern ors he was served. He is a MULTIPLE PAUL HARRIS FELLOW and a member of the PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY. He has attended several assemblies, conferences and conventions here and abroad. He as attended the RI Convention in Taipei, Taiwan, Nice, France and Chicago, USA.
In 1982, he met the gorgeous and alluring Cely Elerani, who became the LOVE OF LIFE. They got married and are now blessed with three wonderful children, the eldest of who is: CHRISTINE - a communication graduate from Assumption College majored in Med Productions, MAICA - currently a second year student at the University of Santo Tomas with the college of Fine Arts, majoring Interior design and JOSEPH - a freshman accounting student at the Dela Salle University.
