CARING FOR CHILDREN
Christmas Gift Giving
Club members sponsored a Christmas Party and distributed assorted toys and clothes to the underprivileged students of Patiis Elementary School in the outskirts mountainous area of San Mateo, Rizal. There was a program of parlor games and dancing among the children. Food was served to the children, teachers , parents and even to the onlookers who were also infected by the merrymaking. The Rotarians gave ride to the students whose homes are distant away from the school.

Literacy and Education (Story Telling)
About 140 students of Patiis Elementary School listened with enthusiasm to prospective Rotarian Arlene Lim with her rendition of the story about “Juan Tamad.” The club integrated a Literacy Project during the Christmas Party and Gift Giving activity held on December 20, 2007. Foods, toys and school supplied were distributed among the students who gave words of gratitude to the visiting Rotarians.

Spouses’ Literacy Project During the activity the spouses donated school supplies, distributed loot bags of candies. The children were also treated for a sumptuous merienda prepared for them by the spouses.
December 04, 2007 LIVELIHOOD CENTER GRADUATION CEREMONY
During the graduation rites held at Nangka Livelihood Center, the club donated 20 “gunting, suklay at balabal” to the graduates of Cosmetology course given by the MCF Livelihood Center. Pres Jo Bernabe reiterated the partnership of the Rotary Club of marikina Heights and the MCF Livelihood Center in supporting the livelihood projects of Marikina City Government. During the ceremony Pres. Jo Bernabe on her speech reported that HRM students were trained and later on hired by Bacolod Chicken house. Present on the said event were Mayor Marides Fernando, Vice Mayor and Club Member Marion Andres and other city officials.

Lakbay Aral sa Manila Water
The Lakbay Aral to Manila Water facilities such as the La Mesa Dam and the Waste Water Treatment in Quezon City and the side visit to the Eco Park in Quezon City benefited some fifty (50) students from Marikina Heights High School. This is a joint project between Manila Water and the Rotary Club of Marikina Heights. Rotary clubs are encouraged to do projects in cooperation with non-rotary organizations to promote the ideals of Rotary and improve its public image.

The Lakbay Aral to Manila Water facilities such as the La Mesa Dam and the Waste Water Treatment in Quezon City and the side visit to the Eco Park in Quezon City was a very worthwhile and very educational activity that was aimed to support the club’s adopted school, Marikina Heights High School. True to the promise of the club in the ADOPT-A-SCHOOL MOA signed between the school principal, Dr. Lydia Timoteo and RCMHts. President Jo Bernabe, a series of club projects shall be implemented to benefit the school and its faculty members and students.

It was not only the students who gained knowledge in this activity but the Rotarians who participated as well.
The Lakbay Aral was realized through the personal effort of PE Buhay Astudillo who is a chemist of Manila Water. The main objectives of this project is to give widespread information on the process of purifying the water, thereby, distributing clean water to our homes and information on water conservation.

The main objective of this project is to disseminate information on the process of purifying the water from the ocean and rivers to the potable water that flows in our homes. Water conservation was emphasized towards the end of the educational tour.

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights conducted an inspection as part of our continuing maintenance service for the twenty one (21)Personal Computers we have donated to Marikina Heights High School. A total of 1,720 high school students benefits this project.
