Rotary Club of Marikina Heights
Airsoft Team Building

Airsoft is an exciting team or individual sports game introduced  in the Philippines and soon became popular not only among adults but also the youth, male and female alike.

A few members of the Rotary Club of Marikina Heights have gotten interest in the exciting game of Airsoft since 2008, namely: PP Melvin Arquillo , Rtn James Borja, Rtn Aster May Astudillo, Rtn Evangelo Aguiling, Rtn Job Mercado and the lone spouse member of the group Ileen Lagos.  Sooner a majority number of members will join the group as many have also shown interest in the game.

As interest among members run high, the idea of a teambuilding activity utilizing the game concept of Airsoft lighted up.  This idea which was originally drafted within the club sooner blossomed into a zone or even, a district wide war game – club pitted against another club or a much more warlike scenario of zone against another zone.

The idea will not come as easy as it glowed in the mind as it needs approval from the district by no other than the district governor.  If he says yes, then the almost 80 club presidents in the entire district 3800 should also be convinced.  Then the convincing shall go down to the Rotarians themselves who will actually join the Airsoft activity dressed and armed as soldiers.

Airsoft is utilizing Airsoft electronic, spring and gas type model guns made of plastic and metal materials with plastic pellet for its ammunition.

The model guns are usually imported from Japan, USA, Taiwan, China and Singapore. Model guns which come in short or long arms are priced at Php2,000.00 up to Php50,000.00 plus depending on country source and material used.

A complete set of uniform, inclusive of  pants, long sleeve shirt,  locally manufactured cost about Php900.00.  The imported ones costs about Php3,000.00 to 5,000.00.  Also being used as protection are helmet (Php500.00), vest (Php800.00), protective full-faced mask (Php1,500.00), knee and elbow pads(Php700.00), combat shoes (Php350.00 to Php2,500.00)..

The idea is to invite each club in the district to form a soldier group of at least 10 Rotarians to comprise a team.  Clubs who have less than 10 members can form a team of soldiers with other clubs.

Another idea is that each of the eight zones in the district to assemble a group of 50-100 soldiers as a team.  In this game format, it will be zone against another zone.

The Airsoft team building activity is not limited to Rotarians.  Spouses can join the club team or zone team.

Rotaract and Interact clubs  can also join or can organize their own team.

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights shall charge a fee of Php700.00 including rent for uniform, gun, protective accessories.  Rotarians with his own gun, etc., shall be charged the amount of Php1.200.00.  The fee is inclusive of purified drinking water and snack.
