Projects: Growing Local Economies

The main objective of a Rotary Club is service in community, nation and throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights has a legacy of service in these areas going back to its chartering year, 1999. These are:

 

AdBOKASHIya : Bokashi Workshop

September 10, 2022

 

In partnership with Rotary Club of Makati Jose P. Rizal and The Soilmate Collective, the Club provided a training on livelihood management, roles and responsibilities of a n entrepreneur and financial management to the beneficiaries of the Bokashi Production training.

 

Bun-ding Tayo

August 28, 2022

 

A donut making seminar aimed at training housewives opening possibilities and inspiring an alternative to gain additional livelihood for their families.

 

Pasada

August 20-29, 2022

 

Project PASADA is a high impact project that provides free leadership & drivers seminar for all officers from 78 associations which automatically benefit all 7,500 public transport drivers of Marikina City. Relatively, all TODA and PATODA Drivers of Marikina must take leadership & drivers seminar/courses as pre-requisite to the application/renewal of the Marikina City Drivers ID which is one of the requirements to ferry passengers within the City of Marikina. Thus, after completion of the seminar the beneficiaries may continue their transport operations and livelihood. Beneficiaries of the Service Program are 500 officers from the seventy-eight (78) TODA & PATODA Transport Associations in Marikina with a total number of 7,500 drivers. The project also coincides in the membership month of Rotary which also aims to expand Rotary's reach, raise community awareness and Grow Rotary.

 

Jardin Pamayanan ni Rizal 2

April 9, 2022

 

A sustainable community pantry partnership project of Rotary Club of Makati Jose P. Rizal and Rotary Club of Marikina Heights. A service project to be a SoilMate Household, Launch of RCC Jardin Pamayanan ni Rizal sa Tumana and the Jumpstart RSoilMate Campaign. In this project we were able to introduce the use of Bokashi Bran and its benefits to the community of Barangay Tumana. The second batch of bokashi kit with buckets were distributed to the beneficiaries.

 

Pagmamahal para sa mga Batang GALA

The Club conducted a gift-giving and Christmas party for the kids of Gabay sa Landas Foundation (GALA) in Angono, Rizal. They were given stuffed toys, toiletries, groceries, rice, vitamins, shirt and board games for their recreational activities.

 

Gulong - A Wheelchair Donation Drive

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights in partnership with the RI District 3800 PWD Concerns Committee gave wheelchairs to 2 beneficiaries who both suffer from Hydrocephalus. Aside from the wheelchairs, the club also gave a package of groceries for the beneficiaries and their family.

 

Christmas Gift Giving for LSENs

December 19, 2021

 

A Christmas Gift Giving entitled "Paghahatid Ngiti sa mga Batang Munti 2" was conducted at Silangan Elementary School in San Mateo, Rizal. The beneficiaries are the Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN). The club gave noche buena packs and stuffed toys for the kids.

 

Gabay Aral para sa Kinabukasan

December 13, 2021 – February 26, 2022

 

Most Filipinos face increased challenges in gaining employment and livelihood, with less job experience, fewer networks and education that has failed to provide marketable skills, most of them work at subsistence level or in unsafe condition. Thus, a Technical Vocational Training and Skills Development project was realized thru the District Grant of RI District 3800. It benefitted 53 individuals from different barangays of Marikina City, they were trained and being certified by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The club provided the needed materials during the training, meal and transportation allowance, so that the student-beneficiary will only focus on their training alone. This project is in partnership with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina.

The Club conducted seminar on how to plant and grow vegetables in small spaces in the urbanized setting and hydroponics. We were able to reach out to a total of 300 students of junior and senior high school students.

 

Gulayan sa Tahanan, Taniman sa Paaralan

November 15, 2021 – January 15, 2022

 

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights were able to do a project like this during RY 2019-2020 which sustain the lives of the families of one of its adopted communities during the pandemic. Due to the lack of space in the urban areas we were able to teach them how to make use of empty pet bottles of sodas and condiments. We donated vegetable seeds to Silangan National High School for their garden as well as for their students to plant in their houses. With the help of the community, we were able to set up a nursery for seedling donation and urban garden inside the school.

 

Tulay: A Livelihood Program for SPED Students

October 22, 2021

 

The Club along with the clubs of RI District 3800 Cluster 4 conducted a livelihood project for students with special needs at Barangka Elementary School, San Roque Elementary School, San Roque High School, Concepcion Elementary School, Nangka High School, Parang Elementary School and San Mateo Elementary School. The project aims to give a source of income for the students and their families, with the guidance of the school, during this time of pandemic. This project taught them how to make dishwashing liquid and to grow mushroom.

 

Paghahatid Ngiti sa mga Batang Munti

September 29, 2021

 

The Club in partnership with Rotary Club of Marikina East and Rotary Club of Alabang Corporate Center together with the Rotaract Club of Marikina Heights and RCC Marikina Heights were able to provide food and disinfectant to 50 students and their parents of the Mother Anna Ventura Sacred Heart Child Care Center, Inc.

 

Urban Gardening and Vermicomposting Seminar

October 20, 2019    

 

The Club conducted an Urban Gardening and Vermicomposting Seminar in partnership with University of Rizal System and Department of Agriculture for the benefit of the mothers and out-of-school youth of Dau Garahe community in Marikina Heights.

 

Doormat and Eco-Brick Livelihood Training

The Club partnered with livelihood trainers of Brgy. Tumana and Brgy. Fortune to teach the residents of Samahang Maralita ng Marikina Heights.

 

Visiting and Sharing at the Elderly Foster Homes

2017    

 

Visiting and Sharing at Elderly Foster Homes, they were happy with the new slippers which they received. The two private facilities provide shelter for neglected elder.

 

Livelihood Skills Training for Person with Disabilities

The Club conducted a livelihood skills training on Basic Sewing, Pattern Making and Bread and Pastry Making to persons with disabilities and family members of PWDs.

Through the global grant initiative of Rotary Club of Wack-Wack, the Club partnered to donate livelihood equipment and conducted training for PWDs in the city. The Club in partnership with Rotary Club of Wack Wack, Rotary Club of Kowloon Mile, Rotary Club of Marikina South turned over sewing machine, sewing materials and consumables, tables, cooking and baking oven, baking materials, cooking materials, cookwares, refrigerator, electric fans and other materials to the partner organization, Concepcion Integrated School Secondary Level.

Rotary Job Fair
