Projects: Promoting Peace

The main objective of a Rotary Club is service in community, nation and throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights has a legacy of service in these areas going back to its chartering year, 1999. These are:

 

Sa Libro at Likha, Lalaya

February 22, 2022

 

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights together with the Rotary Club of San Juan West and the clubs of Cluster 4A and 4B of RI District 3800 donated two (2) sets of computers and four (4) canisters of Protect Plus Gold disinfectant solution to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Marikina City, specifically one (1) set each for the male and female wards. These computers will be used for the Persons Deprived of Liberty's Alternative Learning System, educating them will result to peace inside the facility. It can also be used as communication with their loved ones or E-Dalaw and as a way for them to attend the hearings and promulgations of their cases.

 

Women Empowerment and Gender Justice Webinar

October 18, 2021

 

The Rotary Club of Marikina Heights together with other clubs of Rotary International District 3800 Cluster 4 conducted a webinar that focuses on Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention entitled, Women Empowerment and Gender Justice: For a Peaceful, Prosperous and Sustainable Society. This webinar aims to promote the Rotary International's thrust of Empowering girls and women. The club invited Ms. Sarah Balabagan-Sereno, a motivational speaker and radio host, to talk about the topic and shared her experiences. Women from the adopted community, Rotary Community Corps, Rotaractors and Rotarians joined the webinar, enjoyed, inspired and empowered.

 

Engaging Women Towards Empowerment

In Partnership with Brgy. Fortune and Kababaihang Maabilidad at Organisado (KaMaO) conducted a Stop VAWC and Personal Development Talk entitled “Engaging Women Towards Empowerment” it was attended by two hundred (200) women from different communities of Barangay Fortune.

 

Tumana Kontra Droga

September 17, 2016

 

The Club in partnership with the City Government of Marikina, Barangay Tumana, H. Bautista Elementary School, Marikina Heights High School, Concepcion Integrated School Secondary Level, Marikina City PNP, Tumana Youth Federation and JCI Marikina hold a parade and slogan making contest for the eradication of illegal drugs in the community.

 

Peace and Conflict Resolution Forum

The Club conducted a Peace and Conflict Resolution Forum for the students, faculty and staff of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina in partnership with Civil Service Commission, Metro Manila Development Authority and Department of Science and Technology.

 

ADAP (Anti -Drug Abuse Program) Seminar 2

2013

 

Drug addiction was a major problem among secondary level students. In District 3800, a group of Rotarians banded together to systematically motivate students at public secondary schools in the district to refrain from getting involved with dangerous drug.

The event was conducted at the Marikina Heights High School.
